Next Gen & Elevate programs

The next Gen exchanges are 100% limited to silver output, right? Or did anyone ever pull something different there?

Yeah the 3 silver exchange gets you one silver back, 3 golds get you 1 gold. So basically, don't do the exchanges (unless you're like me and you're using the duplicate silvers to complete the 2 sets a day objective)

So the 3 golds to 1 collectible is giving gold?

The description in Portuguese says the output of that one is also silver, but I see the description in English actually says the output is gold.

So I guess it's a translation error that was misleading me. thanks.

Sorry if this has been covered but i have a couple of questions regarding the elevate program:

How long does this run for? Is it all season or is there an end date?

I've trained both players to level 81 but am debating if it's worth the coins/stamina to go further. It looks like they can both be trained to 85, does anyone know the costs of training to levels 82 and above? And when i say cost i mean coins, the grind doesn't bother me but i don't see the point of spending tens of thousands of coins to go much further on what seem to be pretty crappy stats so far.

EA's plans area ways subject to change but for now the program is meant to last a year. Brian is currently testing the waters about whether we prefer to get new players or level up existing cards so if you feel strongly one way or the other you should get on Twitter and vote.

It costs 7000 coins to upgrade them to 82 OVR. I don't have any other 82 OVR cards so for me it was a no-brainer. Personally, Griffin's stats being worse than Kuzma means jack diddly squat to me since it won't have a tangible effect on my Showdown or LvL outcomes and there is no value in buying Kuzma off the Ah and starting him over a free Griffin. I don't really get where people are coming from here. Better stats don't win games, higher OVR does.

If you don't want to spend the stamina leveling him up that's fine but you can make similar complaints about the 81 Harden and the Next Gen players plus the Showdown rewards are average atm. The only way to get the best cards is to spend money. So I'm not sure where the alternative to grinding Elevate is. The promo 85 OVRs cost 10 elites and a ton of tokens.

Another curiosity...
You'll notice that, in the pre-match comparison screen, Westbrook's stats (not impressive to begin with in the 81 version) are nerfed to it's 70 version stats.
I wonder which stats carry on to the game.

It's just a bug/glitch...I WISH the 70 version carried over to the match lol...I've been tortured by so many Westbrooks and Griffins at 85

I'm pretty sure the 70 version stats doesn't carry over to the match when you play against him. But my 81 Westbrook seems a bit weak when I play with him. On the other hand, my whole team seems VERY weak since they injected steroids on the AI recently, so I don't know...

Maybe people are disappointed because they thought they would get a playable PF and not just a bench player to improve a team's OVR.

Are you saying you are using your Griffin in your starting lineup and are happy with it?

I can c what ur saying.. but we are getting a high ovr elite with minimum effort and no chance involved.... secondly if ur talking abt the pf position specifically.. u cant expect much from Blake (IRL either...lol).. hes not supposed to be a great rebounder or a 3 pt shooter..so that leaves what hes supposed to be good at.. dunks.. which noncard is in this game.. ie.. he s perfect for the bench.. and these things aside.. when I have faced him in sd/lvl I did find his AI decent..

I'll add that as 80 ovr card the elevate Blake card is actually 'higher ovr' than his fan favorite.

there was a combo I had in my lu without affecting coach bonus where I'd get LU 81ovr with the 80 next gen and LU 80 ovr with the 80 fan favorite, so for the ovr purposes of a benched card, it's doing the job well.

And that was the expectation I had for the card.

I get it: an 81 or 82 (potentially an 84) "free" card at this point is a welcome addition. I'm certainly using those cards now. (Thank you oh mighty EA, for these cards and for letting me play the game.)

But common, I was comparing an 80 Kuzma to an 82 Griffin, not even 2 80's or 2 82's.
82 Griffin's best stat is an 82 dunking. I'm not saying that the stats are poorly distributed; I'm saying that it's too low in all stats, for an 82 ovr.
And don't get me going on 84 Drummond. Common! He was top rebounder last year IRL! His height is not amazing. His rebounding stats SUCK! Man... his AI must be taking the world in a few weeks for this card to be any good in the game!

I get also that AI makes a lot of difference. Dray Green and Rodman cards stats usually suck, but those are great and fun cards to play with. But... I feel that the stats on the card should give an idea of what to expect from the card, not some indexes that are to be used by some software, that takes that input and several others, some of which (like the AI) hidden from the player.

Excellent points too!

Man, why do the stats have to be so confusing? Why so much hidden stuff?

I think it's a good program but I hope they introduce new players as we go along rather than having us continually upgrade these two. The grind for tokens after they're past 85 OVR would be a bit much. And considering their weak stats, they'd always be bench boosters. That's good and all but idk if it's worth grinding for a week+ just to get enough TP for 1 training level

I use Griffin on both of my accounts. I mainly use him for rebounding and defense, finishing fast breaks and the occasional post move. I don't shoot with him much because he doesn't have a jump shot. I opted not to spend my cards on the base elites so I was operating with high OVR gold PFs and to me Griffin has been fine.

I should add that I am prioritizing grinding over competitive gameplay at the moment and only play a few quarters of Showdown a day plus LvL. I might feel differently if I were playing 200 Showdown quarters a week, although judging by the leaderboard a lot of the top players are using maxed out versions of the 70 OVR/82 OVR cards. I know I just got torched by an 81 OVR who was using Westbrook and Griffin trained to an 82.

Presumably, there will be better Elevate players released as the season continues. As it stands, I much prefer this program over Next Gen. I'd rather get a training token any day of the week than a silver dupe.

I suppose I'm taking a "beggars can't be choosers" approach to the game but if the Elevate cards had amazing stats then EA would no doubt nerf them ike they did with Harden. They clearly have some significant hidden stats as my 82 OVR Westbrook's main stats destroy my 80 OVR Walker. I also feel like we went through this whole odd stats thing last season. It will no doubt continue in Season 3 as long as they continue to be secretive with the hidden stats.

Couldn?t agree more. Perhaps it?s the fact that we haven?t got any of the 84 OVR next gen players yet, and won?t for another couple of weeks, but right now, playing elevate and getting a gold (and hopefully elite) token you can use immediately encourages me to play much more than next gen (after the first win) where the majority of tokens are silver dupes that we have probably at least 50 of already...

You're right, the grind for tokens is much better than the grind for junk we don't want or need. It's good so far, just depends on how they handle it going forward. If they keep the TP requirements static it will be fine. I'm just worried that as they introduce higher OVR, that the needed amount of TP will increase and I don't wanna get stuck in that hole like last season with Platinums where the TP and the coin requirements got out of reach for a lot of folks
