NBALM 19 EARLY GAMEPLAY

I'll give my hot takes as well.
Positives:
There's a ton of content, fantastic.
The card art is the best it's ever been.
Menus, maps, overall interface looks pretty good.
Rep seems to be more useful this season.
Your legacy team is no longer completely useless \[T]/
A promo and the NBALM master from the start.
Campaigns look promising.
Pack odds are no longer a federal secret.

Negatives:
Only one lineup (hopefully the hinting of additional lineups comes true)
Based on just 2 minutes of gameplay I saw, I didn't see any new animations and all that extra stuff doesn't look very useful. Except maybe the indicator of who you're passing to, if that's what it was.
Cash has increased in price, I think?
Pro packs for cash only - sigh...

Hello, yes, i am real :)

Been a lurker for a while, figured today was the best time to start posting to help answer questions. Picked this one since it is the most comprehensive one.

Re: The Negatives
More lineups will be coming.
There has been a lot of under the hood tuning with gameplay to make it feel more fluid and better overall. Yes, there weren't any drastic changes with gameplay for launch, we're looking at some fun options now and deciding on what to add over the course of the season.
Cash price hasn't change, it will look different on different videos due to region currency value.

The elephant in the room is that pro packs are no nba cash only. This is true, but it is only part of the overall system. We have added "NBA Packs" that are 3500 coins that award 3 silver+ and 2 bronze+ players. These are meant to be the current go to packs for coins at launch, However, that doesn't mean that F2P don't have access to golds or elites.

There are trade in sets that will be available all season(and will be upgraded during the season to better reflect the OVR curve) that lets you trade in the following
15 bronze - 1 silver
15 silver - 1 low gold
15 low gold - 1 high gold
15 high gold - elite

You'll be getting all types of players from campaigns, dailies, showdown, lvl, etc. Those will all work in these sets, since players wont be needed for training anymore(there are only a few trainable players, and they use specific tokens). We realize this is a departure from last season and that there will be feedback around it. That is why i'm here reading it and bringing it back to the team to review and address.

Pretty soon you'll have the game to play through all of it to get a better sense of the overall structure and different changes in season 3. Thanks for the feedback and the support, cant wait to get you all in game!

welcome brian! cheers for making the effort to get in contact with the community! this is a MASSIVE step forward from the past 2 years, and your comments are much appreciated!

my 2c's...

my main beef.. im not a fan of the cash for coins, but i understand teh theory of trying 2 kill of coin makers

the game play is already a positive with the new "blue ring" for making shots

the rest, i reserve my judgement till we all get 2 play..

all i know my family and battery (phone) have enjoyed 4 days off from NLM :D :D

I didn't open many Pro Packs in Season 2 so I'm not really fussed about them costing NBA cash. But I can't understand why the pull rates are so low. If you want people to spend real money on NBA cash/Pro Packs, why not increase the pull rate?

The coins seem overpriced as well. I'm curious to see how that will affect the market. It really isn't much of a deterrent for hacking/coin selling.

The promo Masters look non-grindable for people with a job but I lived with that last season.

Have any of the Game Changers addressed the stamina requirements for all of these live events? Is the stamina system the same as S2?

Will we be getting weekly promos at the beginning like TOTW, Legendary, and Specialists or just campaigns?

As a side note, there were way too many GC videos from guys who don't grind the game or who barely played NBALM last season. I realise that the GC'ers were given a specific list of features that they could show in their videos but a lot of them couldn't share the essential information with us because they are unfamiliar with the game.

Welcome to the forum Brian, I hope you stay or at the very least continue to lurk. What you've provided already is more information than we've ever had from someone at EA, including when NBALIVE.GG was still open. There was mountains of feedback there especially at the season 2 launch, I'm sure you've read it.

I'd like to address the other 'elephant in the room' that didn't leave for the entire season 2. Players and specifically leagues that used a glitch in the code, or third party software to extend game time or increase scoring in LVL and SD. Why were they not banned from the game when this is specifically against the TOS? A lot of people left, we all lost good friends, but people were still doing it in SD right until the end of the season. There were literally dozens of threads 'outing' who was doing it, but they weren't banned.

Because we're here in the off season we're obviously diehard fans and mostly we love the game. This was really bad.

I'll have to investigate this, but i know we don't comment on bans publicly.

Can you send me a PM with more details on this? I'll pass it along to our engineers to review.

Thanks!

Did any GC say anything about tickets, app-deployment-time or announced additional videos coming today?

I have seen the previews and am not impressed. Gameplay is so important yet it appears to look very similar. I really hope some season 1 concepts are adopted.

btw, Stewie, I heard there's an 82 OVR Derrick Rose rookie card.

Awesome I'll have to check it out and hopefully get it but about your other pay when you said you didn't open many people packs so it won't affect you it will because it will cause the market to be way thinner then S2 making cards cost way more

I started playing the beta version of the game in February 2016 and there has been NO significant changes to gameplay. No new dunk animations, no new layup animations, no new shooting animations, no changes in graphics or even crowd response. I do appreciate the little tweaks that have been implemented but the whole point of a game is to play it and not just to collect cards and build a team. My only request is that more attention be paid to gameplay.

I imagine that Pro Packs will only costs cash during the first 1-2 months of season 3. During the first month a gold card could be worth cash to some people since it probably lands a player that could make lineup. And an elite could make a big difference to any team early on.

We see the gamechangers with a lot of elites but that?s in a EA account and they probably wanted to give testers stuff to test. I seriously doubt they?ll be easy to come by during normal gameplay.

The elites that you can pull from the Pro Packs are only 80 OVR and can't be trained. They may been worth a lot in the first few weeks but they're not going to be that desirable once people start grinding the campaigns, especially with only one lineup at launch. We'll see how it goes, though.I may be singing a different tune if I have difficulty upgrading my team.

FWIW, that iLogicsHD guy has an 81 OVR Rookies Dynamic Duo Jeff Green card so I guess there will be Dynamic Duo packs dropping during the Rookies promo.

The rookie coaches are a nice touch too.

I honestly don't know what to think, I am excited because I just wanna play NBALM again, but I don't want to be disappointed like last year.

-I like what they are doing with Legacy this year, and I'm very glad to have a trophy room which I was suprised we didn't have last year
-Rookies seems like a good promo except we have to trade in 3 80s for an 83, I'd much rather get a completion token plus the 80 when I complete one so we have the 80s and KD in the end. Last year we got a bunch of 80s so that's why I say this
-Mobile Master seems much more achievable so far and I like the way they're doing the upgrades
-No pro packs for coins is a bummer even though I never really bought many pro packs it'll mess with the AH
-Card art looking great
-As far as gameplay goes I just really want something new, I'm ok if it plays kinda the same but at least a couple new animations would be nice. Shot locator is nice to have also
-I'm ok with 1 lineup but if they're adding more why don't we just have them all at the start? I'm sure there's a reason but if it turns out it's nothing special did they just release the game unfinished?

Yeah there's my thoughts. Also nice to have EA in here, I feel like if they're communicating with the right people in the community we can make NBALM great again together.

I actually think the requirements to upgrade Embiid are pretty rough. Win a 1000 challenges and complete a 100 sets for a max 82 OVR card? Okay.

THIS is also my biggest concern. I play the game to PLAY THE GAME. I'm really hoping that gameplay feels and looks somewhat different this time around.

Yeah seems very messed up
Showdown rewards being for the top 100 only is a terrible decision.
Being cheap on the rewards will fuel the AH to be even lower on cards thus raising the chance people will buy coins
Glad to see a LvL Master, though.

Where?
