Season 3 Auction House observations

Lowering the elites to 50K will help some, but they've been 100+ for weeks and the only person benefiting from them being 100+ was EA! We listed cards, they got listed/mirrored and sold, but we never received our coins.

You're competing against all other players who also have the same issue with elites.

Who knows, maybe if the elites were easier to sell, maybe the gap to full-p2p would be even wider.

I played daily in s2 and at some point I was an 89 while there were people reaching 97.

What do you think I prefer - a huge gap to full p2p and p2-external-abusers OR a small ovr gap that this still gives a chance if I face them in SD?

And not to mention that EA somehow still thought that my and many other's 89 was too much for f2p, and I got caught in the crossfire in their ban mess, that was a 2-day-suspension that left most of the abusers still in the game. EA messed up badly but without the abusers that episode wouldn't exist.

Back to s3, if you wanted coins you had the exchange for 10 osm golds and you'd get more than than those current 50k, If you didn't collect the coins when you had a chance, it was our choice.

For elites pulled since the osm promo, we're getting a new exchange and the requirement equivalent to osm's boxes seems friendly in the previews.

Of course we all agree that EA didn't have the base-elite-market figured out from the start and that wasn't good. But People still have options/ will have new options. I'm good with them.

1M... nice :)

50k reference seems a much more realistic price for 80?s. However, in a week or so with the first Next Gen 84 players being claimed, it may already be a too high price.
According to EA latest prices, this would place 81?s at 100k, 82?s at 200k, 83?s at 400k, and the rest is blurry.

I wish things were a little bit more flexible so that I could build my team a bit to my personal liking.
Right now I?m a 81 ovr and the players I use are pretty much the same as every other 81 ovr?s I see out there:
Westbrook
Harden
LBJ
Griffin
Gobert (most players use Embiid or Shaq)

The mistake they made was making all of the base elites 80 OVR. If they'd made them 80-83 OVR there would be much more variance.

The biggest problem I see with the AH is they?ve lost correlation to the value of cards in sets. This is a great lesson in economics for anyone going thru it right now. When it was a ?free market?, there was relative price equilibrium so arbitrage was rare (exceptions being sniping bot drops). Now that they?ve instituted caps and taken away the markets ability to assign value to certain card levels, we have a situation where the value of a card in the AH doesn?t correlate at all with its value in sets. Right now the exchange sets for 70-74 golds to 75-79 golds and those to an 80 OVR elite make absolutely no sense whatsoever. This was not always the case and in my opinion, they?ve screwed up the entire AH for everyone to eliminate a small problem affecting very few players and ultimately not affecting their revenue at all if you contend people willing to spend hours upon hours manipulating the AH for gain are not the same people ready to open their wallets at the first chance to best their competitors.

This is why I insist EA stop trying to make up for what they consider lost revenue to exploiters who likely wouldn?t spend real money anyway and instead focus on the value of what they?re selling. When there?s value people will spend (look at the Harden pack when it was $1.99 but then they just had to go and push it since it was likely one of their most lucrative packs in a while...shocker  ). Does anyone who?s willing to spend real money find real value in any of the packs currently being offered?!?!

The AH restrictions this year seem like a kneejerk reaction to the gold player glitch last season. They don't want people getting crazy rich from the AH even though some guy on Josh's discord has already made over 8M coins from working the AH (staying away from 80s and 81s, incidentally.) They are aware that they are hurting the average customer who just wants to sell an elite and make a few coins but they aren't willing to remove the caps at this stage. Their plan at this stage seems to be to offer exchange sets and find ways to give more coins and gradually lower the price of low OVR elites.

It does feel like they're trying to control our OVR this season as well as our coin balance but at the same time, there is also a fair amount of resistance from players. I know I have barely spent any of my coins thus far and I haven't touched my NBA cash yet. And the reason for that isn't just the AH issues but the slow OVR curve as well. Anyone who has played this game for any length of time knows that the cards we're dealing with at the moment will have no value in the future. Cards like #trending Harden are tempting but I think a lot of people are waiting for the right time to spend and now is definitely not the time.

All that sounds very reasonable and you probably nailed it.

Wow... 8M is a lot. I?m nowhere close to that so... is it that much of a problem that some guy has 8M at this point? I mean, if there were 100 players doing that I could get the problem, but 1 making 8M and some 5 making 4M probably wouldn?t even have an impact.
Regardless, could this be solved by limiting access to the AH for a time, to players EA thinks have made enough coins? For example, if EA thought a coin limit had been reached, limit that players listings to 5 cards a day. Just thinking out loud here.

I don't want to disagree with you guys all the time, but this 'Regardless, could this be solved by limiting access to the AH for a time, to players EA thinks have made enough coins? ' seems a kind of regulation much worse than the regulation you are criticizing earlier.

Some guy made 8M with legit sniping while most people are complaining they can't increase their coins with the AH? That's well done and the player deserves to be able to continue to do so.

It is another regulation/rule limiting the market but it may not be worse than the ones we have right now.

I?m ok with a few people (or even a lot) making coin in the AH but it seems EA is not. So I?m thinking of ways that could help solve EA?s problem without ruining the game for others.

The main problem for me (and I guess a lot others) right now is not being able to sell elites. But that Tip-off thing looks good enough to make me forget such problems for now  Or maybe the problem even solves itself as the AH gains momentum and volume as the season progresses.

Hope Ea realizes a macro is purchasing all the below 70k elites that were reduced a few days ago.....

If you have a Jokic, Beal, AD, DeRozan, Giannis (missing a couple more) and wish to sell them for 70k, nows the time to list them at 69,999.

So that's what's going on. I've been wondering why Giannis has been selling all of a sudden after weeks of trying to sell him. For base elites I've been able to sell the players you mentioned, plus I'd add Draymond too. I still can't sell Simmons, Embiid, Booker & PG.

All of those players were purchased for the Tip-off promo. There is a 12 hour cooldown for the trade in set but you can get 20 elites during the promo which is more than enough to build Wilt.

ok this is starting 2 make sense.. so last week, beal, wiggins etc were selling, this wk EA allows derozen, AD, jokic etc..

so are we saying that EA is limiting the sellable elites each wk?

Exactly. I sniped a few elites myself.

@Tonycl: what is a ?macro??

So, I guess EA must be like ?damn it... we forgot about the coaches!? hehe

Anyway, it was cool how fast the bot responded to the situation once a lot of players became aware there was profit to be made with coaches. (I just found out about it yesterday :( )

I was miatakened on the macros being used to purchase all below 70k elites. They just fell into high demand, although I'm sure there are some who used them.

A macro is a task programmed to do something automatically on a computer while afk. It's usually abused by account\gold sellers or overly obsessed cheats looking for an unfair edge on everyone else playing.

Only 1 96 listed right now in my AH (Europe)
What is the bot up to?

Stewie mentioned the caps had been changed, apparently 96 is 1.5m so many users are holding back sale due to it.
There is literally no ghost cards around and this time yesterday there was a good 20+ in my AH.

Thanks.
Still, there should be some listings, cause some of the 96?s (Cousins at least) were already being sold for less than 1,5M.

The caps aren't announced so people posting above the cap due to lack of supply on the AH adds to the problem the supply will continue to be low until people realize the cap change then those that don't know about the caps will start posting around that price as well

So, elites are going for as low as 6k, likely their bottom cap.
Anyone know if EA is cool with this or if some elite exchange set is in their plans? (Other than those SD balls that I have plenty of already, thank you.)
Will there be some nice end-of-season elite trade set like last season?

Also, no new coaches in quite a while is a bummer
