Showdown season discussions - end of season 11 / new season 12

I think edlllpt sat out this season so I guess I'll start the thread.

I finished number 332 on the Asia server.

I did something different this season and kept pace with the top 200 from the outset. It was some of the toughest, most competitive showdown I've played but a good challenge. I beat a lot of higher OVR teams out of sheer necessity. I went on camp for a couple of days and slipped out of the top 500. When I returned, I clawed my way to Legend, which was tough, especially the final hurdle of Superstar III. When I reached Legend I was 247 on the leaderboard. The final Showdown day is a Monday on the Asia server and I have to work. I pretty much gave up on remaining in the top 250 and settled for a 100 OVR card.

It was interesting to me that only 330 odd people reached Legend this time round. As a lowly 98 OVR, I was one of the lowest OVR players to achieve it. Either the Asia server is bleeding fans (highly likely) or the reward wasn't that attractive. Either since Kawhi...

I finished 467 on global. Went to bed around 380'ish. I thought last season was the lightest grind but this one turned out to be even easier once I got the SD bonus. I'll probably try to play to Legend status tonight in case the bonus changes tomorrow. I don't want to chase another 20M player for it.

I had to do a double take on "Irving". Made me think Kyrie was a Titan on the Asia server - haha. Julius "Erving" is one that I may go for instead of Lowry since I have 100 Lillard on my bench already with a better boost. I'm going to wait though until I reach Legend status before I consider re-rolling shards. I don't really want to wait for the end of the season but I may even do that just so I don't give up on a Titan that I could complete without the re-roll. Too bad these titans are meaningless now too since there will be no way to train unless they introduce a new way to get shards?!

Was a cakewalk to reach the top 500 once I got Garnett, couldn't go further as I reached a point when wins propelled my by only a few places, finished something like 350th.

I re-rolled all my Kemp and Lowry shards to finish Erving and Penny, very close to Jordan & Hayward, but might have to give up one to get the other.

Also worthy of noting that even with the addition of Russell to my starting lineup I still can't get a single defensive rebound despite having the frontcourt of two cards with all 100 rebounding stats.

Last season was fun. Again I abstained a lot from it, but All Star I is already enough for me. I faced a 98 who forfeited against my 94 me. Must've been scared of my Ginobili (or loss of coins) and a free elite in my reward pack

I haven't gone for top 1000+ in a while. Been busy, burned out on showdown, not excited with the player rewards....but I got Garnett so I figured I'd try for top 500 to get a 100 Russell. Was fairly easy, esp since I got my Classic lu to 102 after grabbing Garnett & GT Magic. Needed 1 shard for Kemp, 3 for Hayward, & 3 for DJ. Out of 20 rewards and the re-roll......still only got 2 for DJ. But I've got Kemp to lvl 3 and Hayward to lvl 2. Pleasantly surprised by Russell. His stats are just good enough that I think I'll use my maxed 97 Howard as TP on him

And yeah, I only played for objectives, and then a few games yesterday for a grand total of 434502 fans.

That meant a 16508th place and no memorable games.

I saved the packs of the few levels I crossed and opened them only today, but nothing surprising. the final pack would have an 86 Rondo.

After reaching 100ovr a couple of weeks ago, it kinda felt like 'mission complete', so I was glad to see season score coming but kinda hoped it would give a reason to play a bit more showdown for example.

Instead, all the tickets coming from Showdown, live events and sets are immediately at the max. And the OVR and the Level look like a hard road.

Btw, what makes you think this is the last showdown season? Locked line-ups are almost 4 weeks away and Showdown continues to be two weeks here, so I would bet in one more at least.

The reason I assumed it?s the final season Is that Legacy lineups would have to be locked in before the final payout And 12 seasons seems balanced. But it?s EA. Anything could happen.

Finished 309 with 2.185 mill fans... found it pretty ok this time.. played daily with breaks on the 4 certified days.. had KG on the last day so easily made the top 500.. gave a push for 250 but not enuf time/stamina..
Rerolled my shards 2 weeks back bcz realised I wouldnt be able to complete most. Finished kemp(104 now) and jordan.. 1 away from hayward. Wish I kept penny bcz the card looks decent when I play agst him in sd
Interesting match I faced was a 86ovr.. he had all 102 players in his main lineup.. I won by 18.. he won by 16.. made me wonder how important ovr really is..
On the other side how often do u guys reach 30 in a sd quarter .. I almost never do 22/24 is usually my peak bcz I just dont get enuf possessions and I miss atleast 2 shots.. Some matches they scored 30/32 giving up only 4/6 points but they were 104s ..

I was being facetious. I could get about 750k fans (600k now) without buying stamina. Only using ads.

Edit: I?m ending tonight with 650k?ish fans (rank 17). I forgot to account for the fact that there?s a limited pool of players in my tier this early in the tourney and if the only guys playing are 103+ well...

So I?m at Superstar I and noticed I?m missing 9 promo tokens to complete every Titan set. I made Legend every Tourney so it seems to me it?s not possible to complete every Titan set (even if you had enough shards) without buying packs. Seems that will also be the case for shards though since I?m still missing 58 shards to complete all sets (not counting any doubles once I complete first set).

I?ve only done it once or twice. I?ve had several quarters where I have 24 with a min left and miss 2 or 3 shots (3?s of course since I?m going for 30). Almost like a lid goes over basket in those situations.

I was thinking the same and did my best to make my push for the SD season tonight while I still have the certified bonus - got to all star 3 and finishing in 63rd place. Bogdanovic is not appealing at all so my goal will be just to reach legend as quickly as possible and creep into the top 1,000 late next week.

Just as I was planning to bench penny I got a load of penny shards from my SD legend reward pack and was able to train him up 2 levels. Suddenly he?s playing like a man possessed! Can?t wait to max him.

What a difference a week makes in SD! For my classic lineup I?ve gone from 98 OVR to 101 in just a week, thanks to:

-100 SD Russell
-102 certified KG (boosted to 103)
-100 SD titan Penny (trained to 104)
-105 rewind T-mac (boosted to 106)
-99 SD Mashburn (trained to 101)

It was slow going to get to this point all season due to my policy of not training auctionable platinum players. But it?s gotten really easy to score high OVR players lately. In fact, I?m 101 even though I still have NY westbrook (maxed to 94) on my bench and I just need a minimum 100 OVR classic Point guard to reach 102. Fun times!

Every Penny I've faced lately has been fire. SD as well as GT versions regardless of the OVR. I told another member that I wasn't impressed with GT Penny using my 96 Simmons. Well, I think they boosted his AI since intro.
